This could happen. The US government and some very large corporations are so concerned about the potential for a major earthquake along the New Madrid Fault that they have held major military exercises simulating such a disaster. I think they know things we don't know.
Remember, this is their map!
Back in 1811 and 1812, there were four major earthquakes there. These earthquakes were so powerful that they are still talked about today. They opened deep fissures in the ground, causing the Mississippi River to actually reverse direction and run backwards. These quakes were reportedly felt more than 1,000 miles away. They caused church bells in Boston to chime. It is said that the stench of fire and brimstone hung in the air for months afterwards.
The most powerful of these mega quakes was on December 16th, 1811. Below is one description of what happened on that day…
"It (the earthquake) was felt widely over the entire eastern United States. People were awakened by the shaking in New York City, Washington DC, and Charleston, SC. Perceptible ground shaking was in the range of one to three minutes depending upon the observer’s location. The ground motions were described as “most alarming and frightening” in places like Nashville, TN, and Louisville, KY. Reports also describe houses and other structures being severely shaken, with many chimneys knocked down. In the epicentral area the ground surface was described as being in great convulsion, with sand and water ejected tens of feet into the air — a process called liquefaction."
The New Madrid Fault zone is huge. It is six times larger than the San Andreas Fault zone in California. It covers portions of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi.
So, could such an earthquake (or worse) strike us today? Well, last year the U.S. Geological Survey released a report that warned that the New Madrid Fault zone has the “potential for larger and more powerful quakes than previously thought”, and the USGS also admits that the number of significant earthquakes in the middle part of the country has more than quintupled in recent years. I think it wise to pay attention, don't you?
Scientists tell us that it is just a matter of time until another super quake hits the region. I don't doubt it. I think, as many others do, that we will eventually see a New Madrid earthquake that might very well divide the United States in half.
Others may be skeptical. That's okay, who would really want for this to actually happen anyway? The skeptics point out that we have not seen a truly devastating earthquake in that region for more than 200 years. So why should we be concerned about one now? That's a good question. Here is why I think it may just happen and it has nothing to do with geological data. It has everything to do with divine retribution from God.
If the New World Order, lead by Barack Obama and the United States, votes to divide the land of Israel, the Jewish state, by agreeing to ratify a United Nations vote for Palestinian statehood, I believe a disaster of Biblical proportions will strike America. We have claimed to be Israel's best friend and if we betray her, and it looks certain we will, then 'Israel's best friend' will bear the brunt of God's displeasure and retribution. If America divides Israel, the Lord will divide America.
For almost 30 years, and you can track it yourself, whenever our government has forced Israel to give up land to her enemies, natural disasters have hit our nation in quick and exacting punishment. It usually happens very fast, within 24 to 48 hours after the outrage; and, in precise proportion to what we have done. America's sin against God is extreme.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
"I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land."
