Exercising the Authority of God

In Matthew 12:28, Yeshua said,                 “But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the Kingdom of God has come upon you.”

Did you notice that in Yeshua's mind, the Kingdom of God was a larger, more to be desired revelation than the casting out of demons?  In fact, His words seem to be saying, "Of course your casting out demons, duh.... The Kingdom of God is here!"

It is time we begin to realize that God's Kingdom is not some fairy tale but an actual reality.  The Kingdom of God is here!  Because of that wonderful fact we have the authority to demand that demons get away from us.  We have supernatural authority and we need to draw nigh unto the Lord that we may appropriate His desired power and authority in OUR lives.  Praise God.  We have the key to helping people in very huge ways!

We don't need to rely on pagan rituals or New Age nonsense when it comes to setting people free from the influence of evil spirits.  No formulas or ways of men should be locked into at all.  This is not religion, this is the Kingdom of God!   His Spiritual, Supernatural Kingdom.  Again, let everyone with an ear to hear listen:  God's Kingdom is here! Therefore, each situation we encounter is unique and requires the leading and empowerment of the Holy Spirit every time. Thank the Lord, He  is bigger than our problems and He loves us!  Again, we have this empowerment because:  Yes, THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS HERE!

It is by the authority of the name of Yeshua/Jesus and thus with power of the Holy Spirit that we walk in and can see into the realm of God's Supernatural Kingdom.  This 'Realm' is invisible to the natural man but very real to those who are born again of the Spirit of God.  God's Kingdom in Messiah gives us all we need to cast out evil spirits.  God's Kingdom empowers us to live above the dullness, and darkness, of this natural world.

That being said, let me offer a few quick and easy guidelines that will be helpful when leading someone through deliverance from demonic spirits.  These keys are essential in effective spiritual warfare:

1.  You need to be able to discern the presence of evil spirits:
Demons prefer to dwell in darkness and work behind the scenes.  They are very glad when silly man does not even understand that they exist.  Since it is not always obvious to the natural eye when a person needs deliverance, the gift of the discerning of spirits is important.   This gift allows us to know what is really going on in almost every circumstance. Wild and bizarre human behavior is often the manifestation of demonic entities, in and around people.  Sometimes their works of darkness are obvious, other times they are not.   Still other times, with a discerning heart, a believer can begin the process of gathering information about situations that will expose what Satan is doing.  The Ruach HaKodesh reveals and teaches us things we need to know.

2.  We are able to discover and close demonic doors:
Not only is it important to know if evil spirits are at work, it is also sometimes important to know how they got there in the first place.  We want to tear down strongholds the devil has erected within people.  The term 'open doors' refers to the access points through which demons gained entrance into a person’s life.  Sin, occult activity, and unforgivness are some common open doors people face.  Once doors are discovered, they need to be closed through prayers of repentance, forgiveness, and renunciation.  Then, when we are properly aligned with God's Word, deliverance is no problem.  The Kingdom of God is there for those serious about getting free.  The Lord won't deliver us from our 'friends'.

3.  We drive out the evil spirits
We do it!  Deliverance is not normally accomplished through prayers of petition to God, but by exercising authority over demons and commanding them to go.  The authority has already been granted!  The Apostle Paul said this when he was casting out a demon: “I command you in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach to come out of her” (Acts 16:18).   Notice that he spoke directly to the demon and that he did it in the name of Yeshua/Jesus.  It is His authority within us that sets captives free.

Let me say again that there is no religious formula for spiritual warfare or deliverance.  God's Word in us is sufficient.  We need to rely on the Holy Spirit and be led by Him each time we minister.  We live, move, breath and walk in the Holy Spirit.  These keys I have provided are meant to help give you a framework from which to begin stepping out to set captives free in Yeshua's name!
