A Letter To My Grandson

To my grandson Troy:
Hello young man, you are not 2 days old yet but I wanted to communicate this note to you because you have taken over all of our thoughts this week.  I want to introduce myself to you and the rest of our family.  Most important of all though, I want to tell you about our Lord and Savior, Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus the Messiah.

You came out of your mother's belly at 6.30 Monday evening on September 29th, 2014.  They told us you were only half way out when you cried out for the first time.  My immediate thought was, 'another preacher in the family!'.  I was so thrilled and relieved when I saw you through that window in the maternity ward.  You should have seen your grandmothers.  They were so excited.  Your aunts, and some other family friends were there too.  You were the star of the show!  At 9 lbs., 7 ounces you were the biggest show on earth!

I want you to know how blessed you are.  Your mommy and daddy both serve God and are filled with the love of our Lord and serve Him gladly.  It is important to be close to the Lord because he rubs off on us the greatest things we need in life.  He gives us love, joy, peace, faith and strength to live in this world.  Your world is really cool too.  Your mommy's parents speak Spanish and are from Cuba, they are so loving and care so much for you.  They are a wonderful and loving family and you will be happy being around them and very grateful for them.  Our family speaks English and we are very close too.  You have 4 aunts:  Hope, Nicole, Renae and Christi.  I'm afraid they are going to spoil you rotten, which mommy and daddy will have to deal with, but oh well.  You will understand all of this in time.  Your aunts are all alike yet they are very different too.  All of them have been planning for your arrival for months, as we all have.

You will be learning 2 languages to begin with.  I know you can do it.  I'm looking forward to the day when you help me with my Spanish and your Grandpa Lopez with his English.  I'm also a Messianic Rabbi, which will need some explaining, but you will also be learning lots and lots about God, the Bible and the Hebrew language.  I don't want to put any pressure on you but in a short time you will begin to understand where we are coming from and how much our Lord means to us.  The Lord is alive.  He is very real and He makes Himself known to those who will believe in Him.

The world you are coming into is in pretty rough shape but you will be safe by surrounding yourself with the presence of Yeshua our Lord, and with godly friends and family.  It is the Lord who protects us.  All of us need to choose who we will serve, the world or God, and I'm praying, and hoping that you choose very early in life to serve Yeshua.  By believing in Him He will come inside you and help you in every way through this life.  He gives us everything we need.

Your mommy and daddy are really wonderful people.  You were the first baby they had.  You are also Nana and my first grandchild.  I thought your mommy did a really wonderful job in carrying you and delivering you.  She loves you so much.  She's been talking with you through her belly for months now.  I can tell you for sure that you will always think you have the best mommy in the world because you do.  Your daddy is my son which makes you very special to me too.  He loves Yeshua and is dedicated to being a man of God so listen to him because he is going to teach you, and give you everything you need.  He loves you so much he would die for you.  We learned that from the example of Yeshua, the Son of God, Who came and died for us.  Your parents named you Troy.  Troy means warrior.  They would like for you to be blessed with the spirit of a warrior for Yeshua our Lord and Savior.  They want for you to be well versed in the Bible too.  The Bible is the book of life and our Lord is the maker of everything:  Heaven, Earth, you and me.

There is so much more I want to tell you.  I want to teach you history.  I want to tell you funny jokes.  I want to help you memorize the books of the Bible.  I want to make you laugh.  I wonder if you are ticklish.... I bet you are.  What will be your favorite foods?  Right now I know what that is:  mommy.  By the way, you took your good old time learning to latch on to mommy but I heard you are doing fine now and would rather eat than come up for air.  Go Troy go!  Don't stop, just eat!  I haven't changed your diaper yet.  Not so sure I'm looking forward to that, but it'll be okay.  Anything for family, right?  Verdad?  I'm looking forward to you coming over to my house in a couple of days.  Mi casa es tu casa..... always!  You are a blessed child, a loved child, and we will be there for you all your days.  Just grow, enjoy the ride, you are surrounded with the love of the Lord, family and friends.
Love you my grandson,
Senor Grandpa Roy

That was a beautiful love letter to your granson. I know the love that grandparents add to their grandchildren. I am looking forward to seeing Troy with his mommie and daddy. I was a little nervous when Barbara was still dancing almost up to the birth of the baby. Love and prayers to all of you . Always Patti and Tom
