1 Peter 5:8,
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"
Often we don't realize the spiritual realities that are influencing us. When we are having personal problems with people we often know how we are supposed to act but the inward feelings we possess wrestle with our ability to do the right thing. We know we are supposed to forgive yet we stew on the situation, allowing the enemy to blow things up in our minds and distort the real truths right in front of our eyes.
I desire to do God's will with a flourish in these last days we live. I know the warfare in the heavenlies going on and I know King Messiah, Yeshua our Lord has the victory. Yet if I don't enter into my life spiritually, praying everyday, I know that I am hurting my life and the Kingdom of God. We are studied by the enemies of our souls. God is covering us but we expose ourselves to the wiles of Satan whenever there is something ungodly, unscriptural or evil going on in our lives. Though we have been given a free will, sometimes we consciously, or unconsciously, choose to act in line with the powers of darkness. When we allow things to fester, and we don't live in all things with love, peace and joy, then the going is about to get very rough.
We can all make mistakes in our perceptions and behavior but a life of spiritual intimacy with the Lord is crucial for those who walk in the Holy Spirit. It is He Who lets us know that we hurt someone's feelings, or should have acted a different way than we did. He shows us that the ill will in our hearts is never worth the distance we experience without Him. He is there when we gossip, get rude and act selfishly. There is nothing hidden from our Lord Who loves us, watches over us and died for us. Sin, any sin, separates us from His Holy hand on us. I cannot think of anything more precious than that.
It is really important to line our hearts up with Adonai daily or the enemy has an open door to hand us our heads, and our lives, spiritually. If we allow things to go on for too long, it could cost us our heads if we don't change. All of this can happen if we are not vigilant concerning what is happening every day inside us.
Keep short accounts with people. Realize that the Lord's blessing and communication into our hearts is far more valuable than being right all the time in our interpersonal dealings with people. Don't take yourself too seriously. Learn to laugh at yourself and give other people the chance to be human as well. We all need God's continual love and the love of our friends in this life. His yoke is easy and His burden is light for us. Loving people, friends and otherwise, should be an easy burden for the follower of Messiah Yeshua.
