One of the greatest hopes of the coming of the Messiah is the prophecy found in Ezekiel 37. This vision given to the prophet is about the coming to life of the 'dry bones' that are in the valley of his vision. The reason they seem to be dry is because they probably have been their a long, long time. It appears there is no hope. The Lord asks Ezekiel if these bones could live again and even Ezekiel has no idea. He says, 'Lord, You know'. Just about every Biblical commentator I have read believes, as I do, that this is a vision given to Ezekiel about the restoration and resurgence in the last days of the whole house of Israel as a nation. This became official on May 14, 1948. When you read chapters 36 and 37 it discusses at length how this will happen. The people will return but they are still lost and God desires to teach them. Step by step He wants to shed His light on their paths. Adonai is quick to tell Ezekiel that He is doing this not for the sake of these people now returned; but, He is doing it to restore His name among the nations of the World. First the land was prepared and then the people. When I think of the valley of dry bones my mind is at once brought back to the horrific pictures of the mounds of dead Jewish people heaped on each other during the halocaust of World War 2. I shudder at the brutality of Satan's hatred for anything that is attached to Yahweh. I am ashamed of the brutality and pain inflicted by Satan on God's original covenant nation by those who would actually claim to love the Jewish Messiah. I think of the worldwide demonic hatred for the Jews and how they jumped at the opportunity, against all human odds, to become a nation, in Canaan, in the Promised Land, just as foretold by the prophets in Scripture. This vision given to Ezekiel by Adonai in the valley of dry bones is timely, and has far reaching ramifications for God's people who worship Yeshua the Messiah and all His enemies today. Now is not the time to be on the wrong side of God! There are other allusions to this miraculous return of the house of Israel in the last days found in Jeremiah, Amos, Isaiah, et al, but this portion of Ezekiel is so on the money it makes me warm knowing Yeshua's return is so soon.
We need to not only understand what has happened before our generation's eyes in fulfillment of Bible prophecy but we also need to understand some of what comes next. In Ezekiel 38 and 39 we have the war of Gog and Magog. There is a point in time when things become so out of control when Israel returns to the land that almost the entire World will be about to blow itself up. Some scholars suggest that this battle of Gog and Magog occurs at the beginning of the 7 year time period given to Israel. Others believe it happens at the end and is, in fact, the battle of Armeggedon. Either way you need to understand that great war and sorrow happen in Israel during this time of Jacob's Trouble. There is much written in the Bible, New and Old Covenant, that describe the turmoil, war, famine and tribulation unlike anything the World has ever seen. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and I cringe at what is about to transpire for planet Earth. I also weep for what is coming for America. How is it with your soul today? Fear nothing. Trust on Yeshua our Lord and Savior and you can sleep well knowing that your Redeemer is drawing nigh.
